 Perhaps I can be of assistance. My name is Rodney Beaulieu, and I am a professional Mentalist/Magician. I have been providing clean, family-style entertainment for corporate and private functions since 1977.

 Many people these days have never seen a Mentalist live & up-close, which is just one thing that makes my show unique. I also pride myself on being a clean entertainer, which means no offensive language or off color humor to spoil your event.

 My show is a mix of Mentalism, comedy, audience participation and even a magic trick or two.  It is adaptable for all sorts of venues; everything from the company Christmas Party or other company functions to birthday parties, walk around performing and more!

BOOK EARLY!!!

 
 
The main problem, in most cases, is companies don't book the entertainment or speaker early enough. In these cases they are stuck without a quality entertainer or speaker or nobody at all. In  some cases the entertainment or speaker for holiday parties or other important events are booked a  year or more in advance.  Companies book early to assure that they have the entertainer or speaker they want.  There are times when you can book a great entertainer or speaker at the last minute, but it is best to book early. A deposit will usually hold a date for most entertainers or speakers.

Want an idea that might let you book me for your event at no cost to your company? How about a sponsor? Many of my bookings over the past 20 years have been paid for by sponsors. Have a supplier that is always knocking at your door for more orders? Have a business that you haven't dealt with yet that keeps asking for your business? Have an insurance company that your company gives a lot of business to? Ask them to sponsor my presentation. I'll mention them during my presentation, they can have a sign on stage mentioning they are sponsoring my part of the day and they can even have an ad in the program (if you have one). It's a win, win. You get me to your event for free if they sponsor my entire presentation and they get great promotions. Even if they don't sponsor my entire event you'll at least save whatever they offer you. Why stop at one sponsor? Have a couple sponsor my speech. Selling on the trade show floor is not like selling anywhere else. As an experienced (over 15 years) sales entertainer, Rodney will make YOUR booth, products and services the star of the show. These requirements are needed in order to provide you with the best possible performance. It makes sense to use Rodney's experience and follow his advice when setting up the room. The audience must be able to SEE as well as HEAR the entertainer. Never put tables behind your entertainer. NEVER leave an open dance floor or buffet tables in front of your entertainer.

 

If you must have a dance floor in front of the stage, place chairs there for the performance. They may be quickly removed for dancing following the program. In this event - your guests must sit in these chairs during the program, leaving the comfort of their table.

 

Layout #1 & #2 are preferable as they allow your guests to remain seated and you avoid the confusion and aggravation of shuffling seats.

 

If your catering/convention manager tries to suggest a different style layout – please keep in mind they are doing so for their convenience. Most managers have no clue of how to set up the room for a successful program. Often they never even see that part of your evening.

 

Rodney has over 25 years of performing experience. He knows what it requires to connect with your group. His reputation as an entertainer and your reputation with your organization depend on a great performance.

 

Please make certain that your room is configured in one of the layouts shown below.

 

STAGE:

  • Rodney requires a staging area at least 8' deep x 12' wide. If stage is more than 12" high, steps should be located at the front or to the audience's right hand side.

  • For outdoor performances, the stage should be covered to protect performer and equipment from direct sun or inclement weather conditions.

  • At least one 3'x3' table must be on the stage with at least two chairs.

 

SOUND:

  • Unless traveling by air, performer can provide his own sound system or adapt to an existing system.

  • Existing Sound: Handheld microphone on a stand, or a headset mic. Microphone must not be attached to a podium! If wireless - a new battery should be installed .

  • Performer's Sound: If Rodney is providing sound - a standard 110V electrical outlet is required. If an outlet is not available at the stage, a cord should be run to the rear of the stage and taped down prior to arrival.

  • Rodney does not provide sound when flying to a performance!

 

LIGHTING:

Basic lighting required. The show is visual as well as vocal. House lighting should be at 3/4 as performer needs to see and interact with audience.

 

IF IT IS A BANQUET SETTING:

Food must not be served during Rodney’s show. (It’s difficult to laugh with a mouthful of food.) Dishes must not be cleared during Rodney’s performance. It should be done before or after.

 

SETUP/STRIKE:

Load in and parking area close to the stage is required. All required passes – parking & entry. Setup time is 60 to 90 minutes prior to doors open, not prior to show time.

 

Strike time 15-20 minutes. If other acts share the stage, stage hands to move props to and from performance area.

 

HOSPITALITY:

A dressing room or private area for changing. If other acts are performing they may share this dressing area - but it should not be available to the public. Easy access to bathrooms, private if possible. Cold water is always welcome.

 

DURING PERFORMANCE:

Artist or their crews from previous or upcoming performances ARE NOT to be on-stage during Rodney's performance.

 

No video taping without prior written consent. Rodney does maintain the right to videotape his own performances.

 

If these requirements are not possible or available please contact Rodney well in advance of the program. He will be happy to help plan alternative measures to insure the success of your program.
